Creating plastic bag fabric is an effective way to upcycle old plastic bags into a new, durable material. This method involves layering and ironing plastic bags to fuse them into a fabric that can be re-used for various crafting projects.

Steps

Gather Plastic Bags
Collect clean plastic bags of similar thickness. Remove any handles or seams, and cut the bags into flat sheets.
Layer the Plastic Sheets
Lay out a piece of parchment paper to protect your ironing surface. Place 4-8 layers of plastic sheets on top of the parchment paper. The more layers you use, the thicker and more durable your fabric will be.
Cover with Parchment Paper
Place another piece of parchment paper on top of the layered plastic sheets. This will protect the plastic from direct contact with the iron.
Fuse the Layers
Set your iron to a medium heat setting (no steam). Gently iron over the parchment paper, moving the iron in a circular motion. Check the progress frequently, and continue until the plastic layers have fused together.
Cool and Trim
Allow the fused plastic to cool completely. Then, trim the edges to create a smooth, uniform piece of fabric.
