Cerebra Integrated to build India’s largest e-waste recycling plant

Cerebra Integrated Technologies, one of India’s premier total IT Solutions retailers, announced a new partnership with Cimelia Resource Recovery Pte Ltd, India’s biggest e-waste recycling firm. The alliance will allow Cerebra Integrated to begin work on its proposed e-waste recycling facility, set to be constructed near Bangalore. Located on 10 acres of land in the region, the new electronic waste recycling unit will be set-up entirely by Cimelia including machinery. The recycling firm will also aid Cerebra in the managing of the new facility. Firefighters combat blaze at Manchester recycling facility

A team of 60 firefighters are tackling a large fire at a recycling facility in Horwich. After being called to the Armstrong Group recycling plant, fire crews have continued to try to contain the blaze that broke out at 2 am after hundreds of tonnes of plastic refuse caught fire. Traffic has been shut down on Chorley New Road and the plume of smoke resulting can be seen for miles outside the facility. Waste plant proposals in Basildon meets with controversy

A proposal for a series of waste plants in Basildon, Rivenhall and Colchester has been met with controversy after a new document revealed the initial plans. Essex County Council will launch a consultation detailing where the county’s waste is being sent and how best to manage it. County Hall has requested that companies begin submitting proposals for ways to better handle household black bag waste. Firefighters battle large blaze at Biffa plant in Edinburgh

Firefighters are battling a large blaze at a recycling plan in Edinburgh that began yesterday. With smoke clouds visible as far away as Fife, the blaze has so far required the efforts of six fire engines and four specialised appliances. The Biffa plant, located on West Shore Road, has already had its roof cave in and the steel structure is beginning to buckle. Furthermore, the fire, at its height, required eight firefighters to enter the building in oxygen masks. North Yorkshire waste firm in administration after major fire

A waste company has been placed in administration following a large fire that has ruined the firm. With the North Yorkshire-based company going into administration, more than 30 jobs in the area are expected to be lost. The firm, which was forced to make 33 of its 37 staff redundant this week, suffered staggering losses after its facility at Marston Moor Business Park in Tockwith was consumed by the blaze. Aimed at diverting waste in the area from landfill, the proposed waste incinerator has met with protests from local residents and environmental groups. Villagers in Caerphilly are planning a protest after odour from rotting food waste at a local compost centre has become a burden. Residents in Gelligaer, Nelson and Penybryn said that they can smell the Bryn compost site causing them to be unable to open their windows during the summer. Private waste operators have called for a public planning hearing in regards to Dublin City Council’s mandatory purchase order for property needed for the proposed Poolbeg incinerator. According to the local authority, it made the CPO due to delays in securing a foreshore licence from the Department of the Environment. Crews responded to word of a fire after BCB Environment Management Ltd. Located in Marston Moor Business Park in Tockwith reported its facility was on fire during the early morning on Wednesday. Swedish Biogas builds human waste-to-energy facility in Michigan

Construction has begun at the $9 million Flint Wastewater Treatment Plant facility, which will use human waste to generate electricity. Owned and operated by Swedish Biogas, the international biogas firm will use the site as a pilot for future endeavors in the conversion of human waste to energy. Two years after the initial groundbreaking ceremony, the new plant has finally begun to be built.
