LG Electronics USA has partnered with WM Recycle America LLC to launch a new nationwide recycling programme this month, offering take-back on e-waste in all 50 states. To date, there are 160 locations accepting e-waste with the brand names LG, Zenith, and GoldStar.
The programme was designed to serve consumers with unwanted electronics, or e-waste. It will also urge shared responsibility and a sustainable recycling infrastructure on levels.
Azobuild.com quoted LG Electronics USA President Teddy Hwang:
“The explosive growth of electronics products over the years, coupled with the rapid replacement of tens of millions of analog TVs as consumers upgrade to flat-panel HDTVs underscores the need for companies like LG to provide responsible end-of-life solutions. As our program expands across the country, we are committed to encouraging consumers to recycle unused electronics in a responsible manner.”
Consumers are permitted to drop off five items at a time to be recycled for free. Other brand names may also be recycled for a small fee. Items accepted are: televisions, audio equipment, computer monitors, VCRs, DVD players and recorders, combination TV/VCR and TV/DVD units, set top boxes, and associated product accessories.
“People are seeking services to help them recycle electronic waste responsibly and economically,” said Patrick DeRueda, president of WM Recycle America. “This program serves consumers’ needs by offering a convenient and cost-effective waste management solution, while demonstrating our shared commitment to providing outstanding customer service and leadership in environmental stewardship.”
