Computer Planet Helps African Schools

Since 2004, the UK tech company Computer Planet has been known as one of “the most accredited and leading suppliers” of computers and accessories.

In addition to offering stellar service and support, Computer Planet also takes pride in being able to assist East African schools with education and technology.

Education has always been a focal point for enabling economic and social development in Africa. To this end, Computer Planet has become involved in meeting the needs of technological needs in developing countries.

According to the Computer Planet website:

“Achieving universal primary education is, for example, one of the United Nations’ eight Millennium Development Goals - which identify the most urgent needs of the developing world. Particularly in rural Africa, schools often have only the most basic tools for teaching, and the digital age seems distant indeed.

“As a tool for educators, information and communication technology (ICT) - computers, printers and software for teaching and learning - is as valuable as blackboards and textbooks.

“We must also prepare our citizens to adapt to the global economy and participate in electronic commerce. Basic computer training enhances a student’s chances for employment, continued education and networking personally and professionally for advancement in any field.

“It increases student self-esteem and confidence, and decreases technophobia, particularly for female students. Investment in computers is not just an investment in our schools, but they’re an investment in our future leaders, decision makers and professionals in the various career fields existing within and beyond our borders.”
