HP Receives Thumbs Up from EPA

HP has been working hard for quite some time to make their products greener. An announcement made Monday stated that HP’s business products have just qualified to bear the Environmental Protection Agency’s new SmartWay logo. HP’s consumer products received the official nod of approval in April.

HP can now guarantee that all transport vehicles use to ship its computers, servers, monitors, printers, workstations and other products are compliant with the guidelines set forth in the SmartWay program.

What does this mean? It means that HP is now a part of a scheme that seeks to reduce transportation-related emissions and fuel use. The SmartWay Transport Partners programme also requires its partners to measure and agree to improve their existing transportation techniques.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay programme was created as a measurable way to ensure that participating companies sought to improve existing transportation networks.

Joining the SmartWay programme is just another step in HP’s commitment to the environment. For years, HP has been offering recycling solutions for ink cartridges and various components of electrical and electronic equipment.

Companies interested in learning more about the EPA’s series of SmartWay programmes may want to consider attending the SmartWay Partner Networking Forum: “Same Roads - New Challenges” to be held in Toronto, Canada on October 1 & 2, 2008.

The Same Roads - New Challenges Forum is being co-hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership and Natural Resources Canada’s ecoENERGY for Fleets (FleetSmart). The event promises to provide transportation industry professionals with various opportunities to explore practical solutions to transportation challenges.
