Save Money and Ink

Everyone knows that ink cartridges aren’t cheap, particularly if you have to buy them in large quantities. Unlike most items, you rarely get bulk discounts on inks.

One way to save both money and ink is by recycling your used cartridges. There are programmes out there that will help your company to recycle or properly dispose of your old cartridges thereby fulfilling your Duty of Care. Of all the companies that offer the recycling services, EmptyCartridge Ltd is a registered waste carrier.

Businesses seem to be the biggest user of ink cartridges, which makes them especially prominent in the battle for reusing or refilling their empty cartridges. During the year 2000, over 48 million ink jet and over 7 million laser toner cartridges were consumed in the UK - many from business enterprises.

EmptyCartridge Ltd is a company that accepts empty printer cartridges and mobile phones for recycling. In most cases these items have value and the company will make a payment directly to you or to one of a number of charities throughout the UK.

According to the website, this is the way it works: “Upon receipt of your empty cartridges / mobile phones, our warehouse staff will process the goods (each cartridge is individually tested to determine whether or not the cartridge will print once recycled) and a report will be raised for the total amount of acceptable empty cartridges/phones you have returned. You will receive a a purchase order for the collection requesting a VAT invoice. Payment will be made once you accrue a balance of £30. You will normally receive payment within 31 days of us receiving your empty cartridges.”
