Ink Cartridge Recycler Spreads the Word

Cartridge World, an international ink cartridge recycling firm, has continued its mission to educate and promote recycling techniques through its ink and toner cartridge recycling programmes. Cartridge World, based in Emeryville, California, started out as a family of stores in Australia and the UK before conquering America. The company has made its voice known throughout the world and has appeared on shows aired by FOX and CNN.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, it takes approximately a gallon of oil to create a toner cartridge. Add to that the fact that “every second, another eight “empties” in the United States are tossed out”. In North America alone, that totals somewhere around 350 million cartridges per year. If that isn’t mind boggling enough, consider this: it takes about 450 million years for a single cartridge to completely disappear.

While buying recycled or refilled cartridges is a start, Cartridge World wants consumers to go a step further. Their motto: “Please don’t feed the landfills”.

“Our mission is to offer an affordable choice when it comes to cartridge needs, as well as minimize the negative environmental impact of throwaway printer cartridges,” CEO Burt Yarkin says. “We believe that manufacturers and retailers should not limit the choices and alternatives of their customers, especially when those alternatives are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.”

Cartridge World offers walk-in exchanges are welcome at any of its 1,600 stores world wide.

Are you a high volume user? No problem - Cartridge World will pick up used cartridges and deliver refills at half price.
