Mobile Phone Repair Company Launches Online Recycling Programme

Mobile phones are likely to contain toxic chemicals that are especially dangerous when tossed into landfill. Current estimates show that almost 90 million old handsets are taking root in overcrowded cupboards all across the UK. For that reason, The Mobile Phone Repair Company has launched an innovative new online recycling scheme.

MPRC, owned by 20:20 Mobile, offers a recycling plan that is a little bit different. Unlike many sites and stores, MPRC is offering to recycle non-functioning mobile phones in order to recover their valuable metals and plastics. The process is performed in an environmentally responsible manner and complies with current EU legislation.

According to the MPRC website, “Phone recycling is a way of creating financially productive partnerships with charities, businesses & members of the public. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to benefit from a mobile phone whilst keeping the environmental impact of ownership down to a minimum.”

Mobile Phone Repair Company’s Managing Director, Martin O’Grady, said: “A few other companies operate in this field, but we are offering a simpler way for customers and charities to get paid, and we accept a huge variety of makes and models.

“There is a hard-headed business case behind this for us. But it also allows people to get something back for their old phones.”

The process is simple. Just go to the MPRC website at mprc.co.uk/recycle and fill out a form stating the model of the phone you wish to donate. You’ll receive a Freepost envelope to use for mailing in the phone. Once the phone is received, credit is issued.
