Staples Replaces Ink Cartridge Recycling Program

Staples was once well known for its Recycle for Education programme that helped schools raise funds through an ink and toner cartridge recycling scheme. Staples has decided to replace the programme with one to benefit the entire community. This summer Staples launched its programme to offer a wider range of organisations $3 in Staples Rewards® for each Dell, HP or Lexmark cartridge recycled. While other brands of cartridges may be dropped off to be recycled, only HP, Lexmark, and Dell qualify for Rewards. Once customers have earned $10 in rewards (or it’s at the end of the calendar year), the retailer will send your rewards to be spent at the store.

Staples has also made other changes to the programme, including:

We accept ALL HP, Dell and Lexmark ink and toner cartridges.

Staples limits the programme to three recycled cartridges per day.

Payment comes in the form of Staples Rewards or Staples Teacher Rewards, which can be spent at Staples stores, at staples.com, and through its phone ordering system.

Cartridges must be dropped off in person; they may not be mailed.

Because Staples is committed to the environment, there is another programme being offered. The programme is an eco-friendly fundraising opportunity for schools. The programme is called “Good Call for Education” and is operated by Staples’ partner Collective Good. Good Call is a free mobile phone recycling programme that generates much needed funds for schools.
