Best Buy Brings Recycling to Vancouver Island

Best Buy is currently the fastest growing retail store in Canada. To show the extent of their presence, Best Buy is opening its first Vancouver Island store on July 18th. The store, located in Nanaimo, is the 52nd store the company has opened in under six years.

“We are thrilled to finally open our first Vancouver Island retail location”, says Charles Tobin, Senior Vice President of Best Buy. “As the gateway community to many other regions, Nanaimo was a location of choice for us. Best Buy stores offer a unique shopping experience - one that we believe the residents of Nanaimo and surrounding communities will embrace.”

“Best Buy offers a no pressure, no-commission shopping environment that is appealing to both customers and employees,” says Dave Rowett, general manager, Best Buy store, Nanaimo. “We have had an overwhelming response to employment opportunities - a testament, not only to the need for job opportunities in the community, but also for the reputation Best Buy has built for itself across the country.”

Best Buy has already made it known that they are committed to the community and the environment. Best Buy is eager to share its sustainability commitment with its customers. The “e-tailer” regularly educates customers in regard to recycling alternatives so that they will know their options when it comes time to dispose of e-waste. The store offers a free recycling program that is tailored to recycling portable electronics and accessory items such as ink cartridges, batteries, and CDs/DVDs.
