In August one of the globe’s most renowned Zero Waste activists, Eric Lombardi, will be the speaker during a conference which will take place in Glasgow, to discuss a waste free society’s positive influence on our climate and economy.
Successful American recycling pioneer Lombardi will be the main speaker at ‘More Than Furniture 08′, the 5th Annual Furniture Re-use Conference, hosted by the CRNS (The Community Recycling Network for Scotland), the nationwide community recycling groups’ membership organ.
This year the conference’s theme will be ‘Bigger, Better, Bolder’ and the event takes place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama on August 27.
Currently Lombardi is Eco-Cycle’s executive director. This organization is one of our planet’s biggest non-profit recyclers, enjoying a global reputation as an innovator and pioneer in resource conservation.
During his speech to over 100 officials from the Scottish furniture reuse industry, Lombardi will refer to a co-written Eco-Cycle report. The recently published report by the Institute for Local Self Reliance is entitled ‘Stop Trashing the Climate’.
This interesting report claims that eradicating waste via the increase of re-use, composting and recycling schemes is the quickest, most effective and cheapest way to combat global warming.
