Recycle Week is being celebrated this week across the UK and Scotland will be participating with its own line up of special events. In Scotland, the week marked the launch of the 2008 Scottish Waste Resources Awards. The Awards were organized by Eventful Scotland.
The Awards are designed to recognize and reward the best practices in the Scottish sectors of waste, recycling and resource management, as well as innovations in those areas.
With the launch of the awards, Eventful Scotland has began accepting entries in four categories. The actual awards ceremony will take place on October 8th this year in Glasgow at the Scottish Waste and Resources Conference.
John Summers, chair of Eventful Scotland, said: “Recycling in Scotland is at an all time high and that is down to the commitment and hard work of a wide range of stakeholders across Scotland in the public private and voluntary sectors.
“These awards will allow some of those organisations to be rewarded for their hard work. We are looking to build on the success of previous years, when the quality of nominations has been extremely high.”
