Agrivert encourages composting in Oxfordshire

This month, during Compost Awareness Week, Agrivert, the Cherwell District Council and South Oxfordshire District Council gave away free compost across Oxfordshire. The week ran from May 4th to May 10th across the country.

In order to help the public learn more about how successful composting is, Agrivert made compost available free of charge across Oxforshire.

“We are delighted to be supporting the eighth national Compost Awareness Week,” said Alexander Maddan, MD of Agrivert.  “Agrivert has worked closely with Cherwell District Council and South Oxfordshire District Council to return composted green waste to the general public that will both raise awareness of the benefits of using compost made from recycled green waste and increase general environmental awareness.”

Compost Awareness Week, a joint campaign between The Composting Association and Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), attempts to encourage people to compost more by educating the public about the benefits of composting. This year, the group tried to educate people about the benefits of peat-free composts made of recycled materials.

According to Agrivert, Oxfordshire currently composts over 46,000 tonnes of green waste every year.

“This achievement is worth celebrating,” commented Harry Waters, Director of Sales and Marketing, Agrivert.  “Composting on this scale is having a very significant positive impact on the environment and Oxfordshire should be congratulated for its enthusiastic commitment to its organic recycling programme.”

Agrivert has over 13 years of experience in organic waste recycling. The company operates In-Vessel Composting, MBT and Anaerobic Digestion facilities for both local government groups and corporate groups.
