It seems that many individuals in the United Kingdom really are paying attention to the recycling issues that are going on around them. If you have not heard by now the new recycling figures for the United Kingdom have come out.
We are finding that the households in England are beginning to recycle most, if not all of their rubbish and this is according to some new Government statistics. These new Government statistics are showing a pretty big increase of recycling rates around thirty one percent to thirty three percent.
Defra-Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has published a second set of waste statistics for the years 2007 to 2008. These statistics are showing that the recycling rates are beginning to fall when it comes to the number of waste that is going to the landfill. From July to September 2007 you are going to find that there was less waste being sent to the landfill, which decreased this from 16.9 to 16.1, million tonnes.
It is very good to see that these rates have went up but you should know that there are countries out there that have higher rates. Britain is known for throwing more waste into the landfill that anywhere else in the EU. Isn’t it wonderful how individuals have started to respond to the recycling methods that are going on around them? This can be pretty encouraging because you really are getting something back when you recycle and that is a even more clean and healthy earth now and for years to come.
