Dundee has had a recycle mobile phones week recently whereby collection points were set up public places, such as schools, local businesses, libraries and Tayside house, for people to drop in and recycle their old mobile phones.
After the week was out, 380 old mobile phones had been collected and saved from the scrap heap, which was worth £1358, all of which has been donated to The Children’s Hospice Association.
Environmental convener, Geroge Regan, has stated that there are many precious metals in mobile phones, such as gold and silver. The collection was taken to Eazyphone, a mobile phone recycling company, who recovered those precious metals to raise funds.
Everyone in Dundee put in a huge effort and took part in Recycle Mobile Phones week, and thanks to their efforts mobiles were recycled and a charity benefited.
