Mobile phone company aim to make the future greener

The mobile phone company O2 has an Energy Saver Fund which is financed by O2 customers, the customers bid for energy cutback appliances to be fitted in their home and encourages customers to re-use or recycle their old mobile phones instead of upgrading them and getting new ones.

The Energy Saver Fund was introduced in April 2008 to promote recycling amongst the companies customers and introduce energy saving measures through promoting the enery saving home makeover advertisement.

The customers who won the bid were offered professional advice from the Energy Saving Trust and on how to save energy in their homes.

All the money raised by the scheme has been invested into public awareness and promoting pollution reduction, waste reduction and recycling, for example old mobile phones.

The local MP David Hanson stated that “I want to congratulate those in Mold that have taken up the energy efficiency measures and managed to secure funding through the Energy Saver fund.
“The funding from O2 is most welcome and through the Energy Saving Trust, more people can find out about how they can cut emissions and save money.”
