After being gutted by a fire which wiped out nearly ninety per cent of its buildings, a battery sorting and recycling firm has embarked on plans to rebuild.
The Managing Director of G and P Batteries, Michael Green revealed that the battery sorting and recycling firm would start reconstructing the building in Darlaston which was rendered unsuitable for use following a serious blaze.
The Managing Director added that due to the state of the structure it will have to be knocked down and the construction started from scratch. Michael Green further revealed that they had no idea what state the batteries in the building were in but their guess was that what remained now were just charred remnants.
Though investigations have not been able to unearth the cause of the fire, the managing director of G and P Batteries stated confidently that the cause of the fire was accidental and that it actually begun in the section where the lead acid batteries were kept. He felt that the fire could probably have been caused by the batteries from standby power applications which can possibly cause problems when they are kept in one place.
The fire which destroyed a large section of the plant has not however stalled operations and business is going on as usual by making use of temporary buildings and other sites. Besides its Darlaston centre, G and P Batteries has other centres in Scotland, Kent and Derbyshire.
