A new recycling scheme in the United Kingdom is to be first tried out in an industrial estate. The industrial estate where the experimental recycling initiative will be conducted in is the Bilton Industrial Estate and seven huge recycling bins and individual office bins from Slough Estates Group will be delivered there.
If the trial turns out to be a success in giving encouragement to business organisations to increase their rate of recycling, SEGRO will expand the scheme to more of its outlets all over the United Kingdom.
Ben Allen, a surveyor at the estate, hailed the scheme saying it provided a big chance for making a positive environmental contribution and to fulfil the wish of everyone at the industrial estate to raise their rates of recycling.
The inspiration for the scheme aimed at greening the Bilton Industrial Estate came after a meeting involving SEGRO and all the business firms on the estate. The idea appealed to everyone and so SEGRO commissioned Grundon to offer the recycling service at a cheaper price.
The trial period for the initiative will be 9 months and its success in raising the rate of recycling at the industrial estate will be evaluated at a meeting to be held towards the end of the year.
Elsewhere Eden District is to add 5 recycling banks for plastics for the princely sum of seven thousand and five hundred pounds. The plastic recycling banks will be situated at Low Hesket, Kirkby Stephen, Ivegill, Castle Sowerby and Glenridding and are financed by using grants given for waste performance and efficiency
