Sims Group Limited has acquired the Hounslow-based Life Cycle Services which is an IT recycling and refurbishment firm. This is the second acquisition by Sims Group Limited of an information technology recycling and refurbishment company in a period of less than two months. In February this year Sims Group Limited took over Wiltshire-based RecommIT.
Life Cycle Services provides services such as the refurbishment, redeployment and secure disposal of information technology equipment which it collects and sends to a network of processing facilities it owns.
The company also possesses tracking software which helps clients to keep an eye on how their equipment is processed right from remarketing to its disposal. Sims Group Limited is considering rolling out this tracking software for its own clients.
Sims Group Limited’s executive director and chairman for Europe and Australia, Jeremy Sutcliffe said the acquisition of Life Cycle Services symbolized a key stage in the evolution of Sims Recycling Solutions as a service-led asset management firm. He added that the combination of Sims’ global infrastructure and Life Cycle Services ‘ commercial expertise, systems capability and blue chip client base would enable Sims Group Limited to provide the market with better services.
Mr. Sutcliffe further added that the acquisition would also help Sims Group Limited land more contracts and deals from big multi-national clients. He said this arguing that while Sims Group Limited would continue sourcing for local and regional contracts, multi-national clients needing uniformity of service standards and cost reduction outcomes and who were increasingly looking for asset managers with international capability would now be better served with the new acquisition.
