A new company is now offering glass recycling services in Lancaster. The service is initially aimed at hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs in the Morecambe area. The company is aptly called ENVIROfirst.
Before starting operations ENVIROfirst did a feasibility survey in conjunction with Lancaster University on the potential of glass recycling at a commercial level for enterprises such as pubs, clubs and restaurants.
When they contacted the said licensed retail establishments asking their views and opinions concerning the issue of recycling of glass the feedback was extremely encouraging. Because of that ENVIROfirst decided to give a free trial period for those licensed retail establishments that found the idea of glass recyclig appealing. The free trial strategy had very successful results and ninety three out of a hundred establishments that had put down their names for the free trial actually decided they wanted the glass recycling service.
The goal and mission of ENVIROfirst is to remove waste material from a landfill and find a way of it being used again in a variety of commercial settings. ENVIROfirst operates a centre for recycling that processes such dry materials like aluminium containers, steel containers, cardboard, glass, paper, plastic film and bottles made of plastic.
ENVIROfirst has a good working relationship with the city council of Lancaster and processes all the bottles made of plastic amassed from over fifty thousand households on behalf of the Lancaster City Council.
Businesses can also take their dry waste to ENVIROfirst’s recycling facility instead of waiting for it to be collected.
