Saica Containerboard UK Ltd. has ordered a Reject Power plant for the recycling of residues through thermal power from the Siemens Industry Solutions Division.
Known as the Sipaper Reject Power process, the facility will be used to collect rejects from the papermaking process and turn them into renewable thermal energy through a controlled process. Not only will it reduce paper waste by-products but it will also provide fuel, cutting down on CO2 emissions and fossil fuel consumption.
The project has been ordered from the new production line at the Siemens Industry Solutions Division in Manchester, and is expected to be completed by July 2012. Saica operates as an international corporation that manufacturers paper for packaging from waste paper. The firm is building a new production line in Manchester, which will retain the annual capacity to produce 425,000 tonnes of corrugated board raw paper.
Siemens will supply the Reject Power plant to dispose of all waste materials from the production process in a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly way. Siemens will also retain the responsibility of suppling, installing, engineering, and commissioning the facility.
The Reject Power process has become more commercial in recent years. The process involves thermal energy recovery through the use of waste by-products from processes such as paper production. Siemens is the largest international supplier of such environmentally sustainable technology and equipment.
