Hopkins Recycling Awarded Contract for Hampshire Household Waste Recycling Centres

A NEW contractor has been awarded the contract to run most of the Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) in Hampshire.
Hopkins Recycling has been appointed to run a total of 23 of the 24 HWRCs across the country, including the centre at Wade Road, Basingstoke. The centres are owned by Hampshire County Council.
Hopkins Recycling already operates 15 sites in Hampshire, and the wider contract was awarded to improve service and make the sites easier to use for more Hampshire
The council awarded the contract to Hopkins Recycling because they believe the company could provide improved management of sales areas and greater clarity over what qualifies as household waste.
Councillor Mel Kendal, the county council’s executive member for environment, commented: “Hampshire’s 24 HWRCs are a very popular public service, receiving over four million visitors every year.
“Many sites achieve a recycling rate of 60 per cent or above, but the county council also wants this important service to be as user-friendly as possible.
“I look forward to working in partnership with Hopkins and the benefits that it will bring for everyone.”
