Computer Disposals Ltd (CDL) earned top honours at this year’s Green IT Awards held at the London Zoo. The firm was given accolades for ‘Recycling Scheme of the Year’ collecting its very own bonsai tree and putting them at the forefront as a leading UK IT disposal company.
CDL had been nominated for the award by readers of the Green IT Magazine. The company was highlighted for its revolutionary PC recycling scheme. The award was presented on Earth Day with CDL beating out all other competitors.
Jean-Pierre Naylor, the director of CDL, said the company was thrilled to received the accolades and to have the knowledge that they were making an impact both professionally and environmentally. He added that the firm continues to challenge itself to improve upon existing business practices.
CDL’s attitude towards IT recycling has pushed it to the forefront has an eco-friendly electronics disposal service. The company has long been held as an innovator that remains ahead of upcoming government legislation. Additionally, experts have said the company will lead the way for other industry professionals.
The Green IT Awards were started to encourage companies and set standards for improvements in the industry. The Awards aim to recognise outstanding environmental achievements on the part of UK IT firms.
The growing push to recycling electronics comes in the wake of a UN study that indicated that e-waste was quickly contributing to the dangerous build-up of greenhouse gases in landfills. More and more efforts are being put together to prevent laptops, desktops, mobile phones, and other technologies from ending up in landfills after becoming redundant.
