Cartridge World honours Earth Day with recycling initiative

Cartridge World, in honour of Earth Day, is promoting ink cartridge recycling around communities in an effort to remind community members of the importance of helping the environment in ways that save money too. In North America, according to research, up to 350 million cartridges are sent to landfill each year.

An ink cartridge sent to waste can take 450 years to decompose. Cartridge World is aiming to keep those ink cartridges out of landfills and into recycling bins. Empty ink cartridges can be refilled and reused. The process can also save businesses and households a considerable amount of money.

Cartridge World has issued several tips for how businesses and households can become more eco-friendly. According to the printer cartridge firm, refilling and reusing cartridges is a great way to save, using rewriteable CDs in order to reuse them, turning off electrical equipment at night, and printing pages double-sided.

Steven Yeffa, Cartridge World of Americas president, said that recycling programmes for plastic, bottles, and paper are becoming mainstream, however, he added that education on printer cartridge recycling is not as widespread. Despite the fact that 350 million are sent to landfills per year.

Cartridge World has placed recycling bins at all of their retail locations to help promote the importance of recycling. Additionally, the printer maker is committed to educating the general public on ways to recycle printer cartridges.
