M. Baker Recycling, an electronics equipment recycling firm, will be going into administration within a week. The company has informed its bank of its plans following a period of “general trading difficulties.” The company has its headquarters in Exeter and a Plant in St. Helens.
A spokesman for financial services-provider KPMG commented: “Directors of M Baker Recycling filed for notices to appoint administrators last Friday.
“The bank now needs to consent and following this consent M Baker has five days to appoint administrators. They are likely to be appointed at the end of this week or early next week but it is quite fluid at the moment.”
KPMB is working with M. Baker Recycling to find a buyer for the company.
M. Baker Recycling owns and operates a Waste Electrical and Electronic (WEEE) palng in St. Helens, Merseyside. At the plant, around 75,000 tonnes of material is recycled each year. Included in that number are 400,000 fridges and cooling appliances, 600,000 display units and around 20,000 tonnes of other waste electronics.
M. Baker’s raw waste arrives from a variety of sources including local authorities, hospitals, universities, and holiday centers. Another 40% arrives from the Republic of Ireland. Environmental Intelligence Ltd. acquired the firm last May after founder Michael Baker retired.
