Myrtle Beach Revamps Recycling Habits

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is set to revamp its recycling habits, which currently are plagued with out-dated facilities and lack of resources. However, now thanks to Fisher Recycling, a local waste management company, companies in the popular resort town will now be able to recycle plastic, glass, and aluminium.

Previously, due to a lack of service and facility companies in the Myrtle Beach area could not even recycle the most basic recyclables such as glass and plastic. Thanks to South Myrtle Chamber of Commerce’s new ‘Going Green’ Campaign, Fisher Recycle will now provide auditing services for waste as well as recycling bins for the Grand Strand companies on the shore.

The recycling firm will introduce a system for plastics recycle, which will include ink cartridges for printers and copiers. A few businesses along Myrtle Beach already subscribe to Fisher’s recycling service, but the company hopes to use funding from the new campaign to make recycling on the beach more widespread.

Kira Roff, the President for Fisher Recycling, stated that the company was excited to be expanding in this way and to be able to offer a service that is desperately needed on the beach. The programme is being jointly offered by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in order to jumpstart a “Going Green” campaign designed to keep the beach eco-friendly.
