Everyone knows that teenagers are prone to acts of stupidity and often take part in vandalism and destruction that seems to have no logical explanation. The old maxim “boys will be boys” has taken a new tenor over the last few decades as an increasingly violent world has led to teenage rebellion and stupidity reaching dangerous heights. The horseplay and bad behavior of the past may have included things like throwing snowballs or toilet papering a house, but the teen of the modern age has taken to a much more destructive and violent form of prank. This was evident recently as a group of teenagers apparently started a fire that could have easily gotten out of control if not for the efforts of the fire brigade.
Police in Essex are on the hunt for a group of teens who they think are responsible for a large fire that was intentionally started at the West Station Yard which is located in Maldon, Essex. Video footage caught what looked to be a teenage boy running both before and after the fire, which leads police to believe that the arson was very likely carried out by teenage boys. Twelve fire crews were required to put out the blaze, which could have been much worse had it reached any of the fuel storage tanks that are located in the yard.
Four lorries which were parked in the yard were burned to the ground and rendered unusable, which amounts to sizeable financial damage. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Essex Police Department.
