Ford UK Launches Bumper Recycling Scheme

In the effort to make a greener planet businesses are being pressured by governments to come up with more ways to be efficient with energy and to create less waste.  Even though household recycling and green behavior has increased dramatically over the last few years, businesses and corporations have lagged behind in these efforts.  This is a major problem because most of the waste and carbon emissions in the world are created by businesses.  The automobile industry is one that has found itself at the center of the environmental discussion as car emissions account for a large percentage of the overall carbon put into the environment.  Not only have car makers started to produce more electric and hybrid cars but others are looking for even more ways to reuse and recycle old car parts.

Ford dealers in the United Kingdom have started a program to recycle old and damaged bumpers from their cars and thus far the program has been very successful.  For dealers were able to keep more than twenty three thousand accident damaged bumpers from entering landfills in last year alone.  This is equal to about seventy tonnes of landfill refuse diverted by the bumper recycling program.  The bumpers will be recycled into new, usable bumpers as well as other plastic parts and goods.  Ford has called their UK recycling scheme a great success and say that it shows that Ford is dedicated to environmental issues.

Ford dealerships are also saving money with the scheme as now the Ford company will remove bumpers from their lots free of charge.
