MDJ Light Brothers, a specialist waste and recycling processor, based in Daventry, UK is off to a great start in 2008. They have been nominated for the National Recycling Awards for 2007, and are finalists in the competition.
Managing director Jonathan Light commented that it was great to be short-listed for a major award as it brought to light the hard work and ingenuity of the people who worked there as well as the close customer relationships.
He went on to say that the firm had invested millions in technology, systems, premises, and vehicles to assist in UK electronics recycling, and it was great to be rewarded. He also noted that he thought the award was due to the company’s service efficiency, professionalism, flexibility, and reliability
The Light Brothers initially pioneered refrigerator processing in the UK in 2002. As of 2007, they are processing hundreds of these units a day. They have continued to specialize in waste electrical and electronic equipment.
The firm predicts that this processing will make up nearly 40 percent of its overall business by the end of 2007.
An increase in business may fuel the need for more capacity at the plant, and there are expansion plans in place for the Daventry plant, which includes a specialist plastics granulation operation.
