Conservatives Outline Plans for Greener Government

As the general elections in the United Kingdom draw nearer, both sides are doing their part to try and distance themselves from the other.  With the Conservatives holding a sizable lead in the polls they really don’t have to do much but nevertheless the Conservatives are trying to make themselves out to be the greener of the two parties.  The environment has been one of the biggest issues of the last year and it is clear that the Tories are trying to tap into this concern with some of their recent announcements.  In addition to slamming many of the Labour Party’s schemes, such as the dustbin tax, the Conservatives have also been laying out plans of their own in an effort to appeal to the ever growing green constituency in the United Kingdom.

A top aide in the Conservative party recently announced that one of the plans the party has is to centralize government spending on green technology into a single government body which will be headed by Nicholas Stern, a climate change expert.  The plan will formally be announced by George Osborne, the likely future finance minister of Britain, in a speech that will focus on new ways to grow the economy of the UK as well as create jobs in the future.  Most experts agree that green technology has the potential to create thousands if not millions of jobs worldwide and politicians are now using this as part of their platform.

The Conservatives blamed Labour for Britain falling behind countries like the United States and Japan when it comes to green technology.
