Plastic Rubbish Plagues UK Beaches

In the effort to clean up the world and get greener all types of waste must be investigated and inspected.  No stone can be left unturned and even seemingly small developments and changes make a big difference when looked at as a collective. It has been said that a person stranded on a deserted island would merely have to wait and everything that they might need would come to them.  This is because of the large amounts of litter and waste dumped into oceans and on beaches, which would allow a beachcomber to find everything from plastic bottles and bags, all the way to car tires and fishing nets.  A new scheme launched in the United Kingdom aims to clean up the beaches around the UK.  The Plastics 2020 Challenge aims to keep litter and waste off of United Kingdom beaches and out of the surrounding waters.

The campaign, which is supported by the Marine Conservation Society, aims to protect seas, wildlife, and shores as well as investigate the origin of waste and determine how to stop it.  The campaign is even trying to get the public involved by allowing people to use their website to make reports and complaints as well as offer solutions to the problem.   Studies have shown that most of the litter found on beaches was made out of plastic.

Plastic waste is the biggest waste issue the world currently faces as so much of our packaging and products are made out of this material.
