Energy from Waste Reduces Carbon Footprint

One of the most innovative advances in green technology is the ability to turn waste into energy.  This is a great way to not only keep waste from landfill, but as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels which are very bad for the environment. An Israeli waste management company recently announced that is has made exciting technological advances in the field of waste management.  The company claims that is has developed what is known as Plasma Gasification, a technology which can help reduce the amount of municipal solid waste.  In addition to eliminating large amounts of waste, the technology also contributes by turning the waste into products which can be used in the construction industry.  This technology will soon be coming to the United Kingdom.

Many industry insiders fear that the UK is woefully behind the rest of Europe and will struggle to meet most of the lofty goals of the EU.  This has the UK looking for innovative technology and schemes which can help speed up the process of eliminating solid waste. One such innovation is Plasma Gasification which can turn solid waste into synthesis gas as well as products that can be used for construction materials.  This makes it doubly effective as waste is removed from the system and future waste is avoided by creating products which no longer need to be made.

Similar techniques have been  process has already been used by companies like Thames Water, who have been able to eliminate their carbon footprint by using energy created from human feces.
