Energy from Waste Plants to be Built in Peterborough

One of the most interesting and exciting developments in the recycling and waste management industry is the ability to use various methods to turn waste into energy.  Companies have been able to use a wide variety of organic materials to generate energy, which not only gives countries a way to keep waste from landfills, but it also offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.  Companies like Thames Water have even been able to use human feces to make energy, and other plants have collected used baby nappies and used the organic waste to create methane gas which can then be used to create electricity and heat homes.  The future is pretty open when it comes to this type of energy and as countries all over the world look for ways to cut their carbon emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, it will become even more common.

The Peterborough City Council has launched a plan to construct multiple energy from waste facilities and are currently decided which company will receive the big.  One of the facilities, which will handle roughly sixty five thousand tonnes, will be built by either The Shanks Group, Kier, or Viridor.  A second facility, which will have a one hundred thousand tonne capacity, has been narrowed down to Greenstar UK, Viridor, and the Shanks Group.  All of these companies hope to be chosen to build and run the plant, as the energy from waste industry will be part of the future growth of the United Kingdom.
