Early last year newspapers around the world including the London Times and the New York Times laid out some of the ways in which the governments and big businesses in the world were going to get greener in the upcoming year. The London Times not only talked about the things that the United Kingdom had planned but also revealed that the newspaper itself had gone green and had reduced its own carbon footprint to zero. Both newspapers laid out the variety of ways in which citizens and businesses could change to make their lifestyles and practices safer for the environment. As the world tries to become greener these schemes will be invaluable in increasing the rates of recycling and reducing waste.
Some of the things that were predicted are coming true in both America and the United Kingdom. The Times advised diners in Britain to eat less lamb as the methods used to produce it create a lot of waste. In addition, predictions were made that buses would move to more environmentally friendly forms of fuel and since buses in Bristol have been converted to run on old cooking oil. Marks & Spencer followed up a prediction in the times that said clothing would begin to be made out of recycled goods and since the retail giant has launched a line of school uniforms which are made of recycled plastic bottles.
In America, Coca Cola, one of the largest companies in the world, has positioned itself as the green option for soft drinks by offering more environmentally friendly packaging and installing recycling bins all over the country for plastic.
