Mobile Phones Help Missing Persons

Studies have shown that people are far more likely to take part in recycling schemes if there is some type of incentive to do so.  Although it may seem that people are just being greedy, the incentive does not necessarily have to come in the form of money or rewards.  Some people prefer to donate things like used mobile phones to charities and other groups who are using the proceeds to do something positive.  There have been several successful fund raising schemes in the United Kingdom involving the recycling of mobile phones.  Recently in Gloucester shoppers were asked to donate their mobile phones in an effort to locate missing people for the holidays.

The Missing People Helpline has partnered with the Come Home for Christmas Campaign in an effort to help families find their missing loved ones in time for the holidays.  The Missing People Helpline aims to help find missing children or adults who may not be mentally or physically able to take care of themselves.  Residents of Gloucester are asked to lend a hand to the charity by donating their phones at the Ask Me point in the Gloucester Mall.  Proceeds from the collection will be donated to the Missing People Helpline and the Come Home for Christmas Campaign.

The charity is making appeals about three specific people whose families are obviously concerned.   James Elam, Angela Bradley, have been missing for over a decade and Elizabeth Swann, a woman who disappeared when she was twenty three years old, has been missing since 1974.
