Issues of the environment have been some of the hottest topics over the last few years as the public becomes increasingly more educated about the importance of issues like climate change. The United Nations summit on climate change was supposed to be the culmination of all of this talk but it left many saying that the summit was a failure which did not produce any real results. Since world leaders were unable to come to any sort of agreement about changes that need to be made the public has come to the realization that change is going to have to come at the local level. This has led more people to investigate the businesses that they patronize, looking for the ones who are doing their part to help the environment by getting greener.
Recently some rankings were released which revealed some companies around the United Kingdom that are going above and beyond their duties to Mother Nature. Many companies are now doing environmental audits so that they can identify the ways in which they can improve and sometimes save themselves money. Accenture Company, which is a firm dealing with consulting, global management, and technology services, was recently recognized for its internal efforts at becoming greener. The company has instituted many innovative schemes to recycle paper and other office supplies. In addition, the company, which employs over one hundred and seventy five thousand people, has cut business travel and has begun to rely more on conference calls as a way to save on carbon emissions.
