With all of the talk about the environment it was only a matter of time before certain industries came under fire. If you have been looking at headlines lately you might think that the sport of golf revolved entirely around the sex life of Tiger Woods, but recently golf has gotten a welcome distraction from the Tiger zoo. This is because some environmental groups have been attacking the wasteful nature of golf, in which land, water, and other resources are often used with little or no concern for the environment. One only has to go to the deserts of Arizona where miles of harsh desert are broken up with the green oasis of a golf course to see exactly the extent that people will go to have an nice round of golf.
As most of the world waits to see the latest in the Tiger Woods saga, the rest of the sport is trying to move on by announcing some innovations that they will be making to make the sport greener. Arizona, which boasts some of the nicest weather and golf courses in the world, has been at the forefront of creating technology that will allow golf to lessen its carbon footprint. One of these innovations is golf carts that run on solar power. This allows golfers to charge their carts with the sun instead of plugging them in, which will reduce the amount of energy used. Courses are also increasingly using greener and organic products to maintain the course.
