Recyclers in United Kingdom Rewarded for their Efforts

In an effort to encourage those households which recycle the most, as well as encourage more people to develop greener lifestyles, a new scheme has been launched which will offer vouchers to the families who create the least amount of waste.   Recycle Bank, Veolia Environmental Services, and Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have started the program which hopes to increase the awareness of how easy recycling can be and also how important it is to the future of the United Kingdom and the world at large.

Studies have shown that people are more likely to recycle if it is easy, or if they are offered a reward, which is why the Borough thought that the first step would be to make recycling less complicated for families.  The biggest complaint about recycling is that customers do not want to sort through garbage and place each item in a separate bin, which they must keep somewhere on their property.  The Borough streamlined this process by moving from many individual bins to one large bin in which customers can put all of their recyclables, including their paper, plastic, glass, and metal.  The bin will then be transported to a local recycling center which will sort through the trash and put it in its correct place.  Not only will this plan make recycling easier for customers, it will also provide jobs in the community.

Any household which does an exemplary job in this program will receive a voucher that they can spend in local restaurants and cinemas.
