Met Office Accused of Lying about Climate Change

Global warming has been one of the most controversial issues of recent history.  Although most scientists now agree that climate change is real, there are still some who think this is a political issue that is not really being driven by facts.  There is still a large group of people who do not even believe that global warming is real and that most of the evidence has been generated by those who have an agenda.  Accusations have been flying around lately that some of the facts that have been presented about climate change have been manipulated to make things seem much worse than they really are.  Although most people would chalk this up to ridiculous conspiracy theory, there are still people who believe that they have been lied to.

The Met Office has been accused of cherry picking certain figures and numbers to make the issue of climate change seem worse than it really is.  The claim is that climatologists from the United Kingdom have manipulated data from Russia to make a report that will be revealed at this week’s climate summit in Copenhagen.  The study has become one of the key issues of the summit, as it claims that global temperatures are at their highest in over one hundred and fifty years.  The Met Office has been accused of only using the Russian data which supported the idea of global warming and then ignoring any evidence which could potentially contradict these findings.

The Met Office responded to these accusations with a full denial saying that they have nothing to gain by lying about the issue.
