Green technology has become one of the fastest growing segments of the business world. As customers increasingly desire products that are safe for the environment companies have responded by flooding the markets with all types of technology aimed at reducing the negative impact on nature. Also, as countries increasingly move away from products that use fossil fuels or other means that are unsafe for the environment, products have to be made to fill the void, which has led to green technology becoming a hot investment for those looking to start a business. Recently an awards ceremony honored those companies who have invented technology that has made a significant impact in the world’s quest to get greener.
One of the companies is EcoATM which recently took home the Most Innovative Product Award at the ceremony which was hosted by Connect a non-profit group involved in the life sciences and technology industry. EcoATM won the award for their mobile phone recycling kiosks, which act in the same way as an ATM. All customers have to do is enter the information about their phone, drop the phone into the machine and they will receive a voucher that they can use in local stores. Some kiosks even offer cash money for phones depending on the age and value of the phone. Older phones, which are worth less, will be recycled for parts, while newer phones will be re-used.
This is the twenty second year in a row that Connect has handed out this award which was chosen from more than one hundred potential entries.
