Government Invests in Energy from Waste

As the world attempts to become greener, governments and local councils have put pressure on businesses to look for ways to become more environmentally friendly.  The United Kingdom government has even offered financial assistance to those businesses looking to install green technology.  One particularly important segment of the waste management industry is the waste to energy business which is rapidly expanding across the United States and Britain.  Not only do these businesses provide cheap energy which is less harmful to the environment, but they keep a large amount of waste from reaching landfills.  Recently the Carbon Trust, which is a government organization under the flag of the Department of Energy and Climate Change, gave four million pounds to a firm looking to recover energy from waste.

New Earth Solutions is a company that deals in waste treatment and waste recovery.  Recently they received a four million pound boost to transfer some of their operations to the recovery of energy from waste.  The new power plant is expected to begin in 2010, and the investment will allow them to invest in gasification and pyrolysis technologies which many think will be the future of energy.  Both of these techniques allow waste to be safely and cleanly turned into energy.  Many such plants have already opened in the United States and the United Kingdom is quickly following suit.   The United Kingdom government continues to look for new green technology in which to invest.

They have also announced that a 2.7 million pound investment will be made in Whitfield Solar, a solar energy company in the United Kingdom.
