Top Mobile Recycler Changes Name

One of the fastest growing segments of the recycling industry is mobile phone recycling.  There are a number of reasons why this is true, namely people are becoming more educated in how to properly dispose of mobile phones and other small electronic devices.  People are also being educated about the potentially harmful effects of mobile phones, which have batteries that can leak harmful chemicals into soil that eventually contaminate water supplies.  In addition, mobile phone companies have been pressured by governments to step up recycling schemes which encourage and educate the public about the importance of the issue.  This has led to many companies offering financial incentives in the form of voucher and cash for used mobile phones.

One of the major players in the mobile recycling game has recently changed its name and re-launched its website.  What used to be called mobile2cash will now be known as zonzoo and will continue to recycle phones at the fastest rate of any company in the world.  Zonzoo has already been responsible for recycling more than two million mobile phones worldwide in 2009 and it plans to triple that amount over the next few years.  Studies have shown that there are literally hundreds of millions of unused mobile phones sitting in drawers around the world, so the market for mobile phone recycling has plenty of room for growth.
Part of Zonzoo’s success is that they offer cash incentives for phones, which has proven to be an effective technique to encourage action.  In addition Zonzoo makes a charitable donation to a charity of the customers choosing which gives five percent of the value of the phone.
