Searches for Mobile Phone Recycling Increase

The recycling of electronic items like mobile phones has become one of the hottest issues in the industry.  As landfills continue to reach capacity many nations are left wondering what to do with the millions of used mobile phones, computers, printers, televisions, and small handheld devices that have become so cheap as to be disposable.  Not only has this, but the rapid advances in technology encouraged people to constantly have the newest device, which leads to even more waste.  It has been estimated that there are at least ninety million unused mobile phones in the United Kingdom alone, and a staggering percentage of these will end up being disposed of in an improper way.  However, a recent study shows that this may all be about to change as searches for mobile phone recycling on the internet have increased dramatically.

Recent studies have shown that searches on the internet for phrases such as ‘mobile phone recycling’ have gone up by about one hundred and eighty nine percent over the last few years.  This is due to a few factors according to the research. One is that people are increasingly more aware of how and where to recycle mobile phones, and are also being driven by the economy to do so.  This is because many companies offer financial incentive for their customers to increase recycling rates.  With more people looking for ways to make some money, more and more people will recycle just to get a few extra dollars for their unused handsets.
