Green Entrepreneur Turns Trash into Lamps

Some of the fastest growing segments of the business world are related to the environment.  As more people become aware and concerned about environmental issues, businesses must step up to fill the needs of customers who are suddenly demanding more responsible behavior from the products and services that they purchase.  This has led to a wave of new green businesses in the United Kingdom, which have been created to fill a specific green need or to pick up slack for businesses that have yet to embrace green technology.  This is good news for both the economy and the environment as many believe that green technology will be the next big creator of jobs in the world as traditional manufacturing jobs continue to disappear.

Some of the businesses popping up around the United Kingdom are unique and unusual in their approach towards a more sustainable world.  They are looking for ways to carve out a niche and take home a piece of the estimated six trillion dollar green economy.  Lizzie Lee is one entrepreneur who is taking advantage of the country’s new found love affair with all things green.  Miss Lee takes items destined for landfills and rubbish bins and uses them to make lamps.  Lee uses things like milk bottles to make stunning white lamps which retail for around one hundred dollars.  She says that customers looking to be greener have fallen in love with her products.

Lee got the idea after a trip to India where the harsh realities of waste are right out in the open.
