Red Tape Removed for Clean Energy

The United Kingdom along with most of the countries in the world is looking for new and innovative ways to cut carbon emissions.  Activists, protestors, and climate change experts have been trying to raise awareness about this important issue by staging protests, green education events, and releasing reports which confirm the potentially disastrous effects of global warming.  All of this was done to lead up to the United Nations summit on climate change that will take place next month in Copenhagen.  However, it is not just governments and environmental groups that are getting involved, small businesses and individuals in the United Kingdom are also trying to do their part, and after a recent ruling this will be a little bit easier for them to do.

In an effort to drastically reduce carbon emissions from buildings around Britain the government made proposals which seek to limit the amount of bureaucracy surrounding businesses and homes which would like to install on site renewable energy.  There is currently a large amount of red tape and planning permissions that must be granted before a business or home can install certain types of renewable energy sources like wind turbines.  The new laws will allow industrial buildings to install wind turbines up to fifteen meters in size, which will allow businesses to use both solar and wind power to create clean energy.

The new legislation would also allow electric car outlets to be installed on homes and businesses, which previously had to apply for planning permission.   After recent reports which indicated a national switch to wind power would be expensive, many feel that individual renewables are the answer.
