World Usability Day 2009 will involve companies looking to improve design to make it more sustainable. One such company is User Vision which aims to use World Usability Day as a means to improve its own design. The goal of the day is to boost the public’s awareness of the importance of designing simple and accessible products and services that are based around humans and sustainability. As the world readies itself for the United Nations summit on climate change in Copenhagen this December, environmental issues have come to the forefront. Countries all over the world will take part in World Usability Day as the world tries to raise the public consciousness about environmental issues.
The event is now in its fifth year and will feature forty three countries taking part in over two hundred planned events. This year’s events will revolve around sustainable lifestyles and human impact on the environment. User Vision has many events planned that aim to create conversation about sustainable design while at the same time entertaining guests at its usability testing suite. User Vision will also be conducting studies of several price comparison websites to evaluate how difficult it might be for customers to switch to greener and more sustainable options.
Some of the activities included in this year’s event will feature discussions about the impact of mobile phones on the environment, how the internet affects the environment, and many examples of how to be more sustainable in your own home. In addition, User Vision will also try to judge the accessibility of recycling centers and try to overcome some of the challenges people have when recycling.
