Samsung recently announced the launch of a green mobile phone called Blue Earth and is calling upon its customers to help create the ad campaign for the launch. Current Media, an online new portal, has partnered with Samsung to ask consumers in the United Kingdom to produce an advertisement for its environmentally friendly mobile phone. Green mobile phone technology, as well as the recycling of mobile phones has been hot news in the United Kingdom after a recent study revealed that more than five million mobile phones end up in landfills in the UK. The batteries in traditional mobile phones contain harmful chemicals that can be damaging when released into the environment.
The mobile phone giant Samsung plans to allow consumers in Italy and the United Kingdom to film their own advertisements on Current’s Viewer Created Advertising Messages platform. The content will then be viewed by Samsung and parts of it will be used to create their next advertising campaign. The aim of allowing consumers to take part in the television advertisement is to appeal to environmentally friendly customers. Companies in all industries have increasingly been using green movements to help move their product as consumers now demand that that the businesses they choose do their part to reduce their impact on the environment.
The new Blue Earth phone uses recycled plastic in its design as well as a five star rated energy efficient charger along with additional solar charges on the backside of the mobile phone. Samsung is one of many companies which plan to release solar powered phones over the next year. Traditional batteries in mobile phones may soon be a thing of the past.
