Valpak is providing a new text service to UK residents that offers recycling information about a range of waste materials. UK residents can access information regarding recycling from anything from plastic milk bottles to old toasters by texting ‘waste’ or ‘elec’ and a postcode to 60060.
Valpak runs ‘recycle-more.co.uk’, and the new text service will deliver another method for the wildly successful company. The website alone has received over 3 million hits since 2007, clearly meeting a consumer need.
Valpak created the site as an educational resource with recycling games for kids and exhaustive explanations of recyclable materials and packaging symbols.
Recycle-more’s web manager Sam Blades stated:“The text service allows people to recycle materials ‘on the move’. If you’re on holiday in the UK and want to keep up the good work you do at home, it’s now quick and easy to locate your nearest recycling site. It also gives those without internet access a convenient way to find recycling facilities”.
Steve Gough, CEO of Valpak, at this point in time, the UK’s largest compliance effort, stated:’I am thrilled to see the launch of yet another valuable recycling tool. Any service which raises awareness and improves access to recycling is to be welcomed’.
