SONY Promotes Recycling with Coupons for Recycling Old TV’s

With the rise of LCD, plasma, and HDTV sets on the market, many people will be in the market for new TV’s this year. Competitive shoppers should take note—SONY is offering a $100 discount for Christmas buyers that recycle their old TV’s when they buy the SONY Bravia line.
The Japanese company is featuring a new offer as parts of its Take Back Recycling Program. The Bravia line of HDTV sets comes in a range of sizes and is available in both LCD and rear projection models. They are considered some of the highest quality TV sets presently available on the market.
While the TV sets start at a minimum of USD $699.99, a $100 discount for consumers who choose to recycle their old TV’s sweetens the deal.
The Japanese electronics company began the Take Back Recycle Program in September 2007, and the new promotion, called TV Trade Up, will be running until March 31, 2008. Shoppers should remember, however, that the $100 discount coupons will only be issued until March 15, 2008.
“By layering our Take Back Recycling Program with offers like the TV Trade Up promotion, Sony expects to reach its goal of recycling one pound of old product for every pound of new product sold,” stated Mark Small, the company’s vice president of environment, safety and health. Greenpeace has recognized SONY’s efforts and proclaimed SONY one of its leading environmentally aware companies.
