John Prescott has come a long way from the man who was once nicknamed Two Jags for his love of sports cars. However, things have changed as Prescott has now embraced his role as head of the Council of Europe’s committee on climate change. Prescott has been the driving force behind the Copenhagen conference on Climate Change which will bring ninety countries together in December. The conference hopes to encourage these countries to work together to slow down global warming by the year 2050.
Prescott went from a man who rode exclusively in Jaguar sports cars to one who is taking the bus. Prescott has vowed to use public transport to advise citizens on the importance of the issue of global warming and what they can do to contribute to the effort to slow it down. Prescott hopes to stress the importance of recycling, using public transport, and being green in general.
The conference will also be tackling ways for rural communities to lessen their carbon footprint. People in rural communities tend to rely more heavily on automobiles for their daily transport. One way people can make their cars and homes a little more eco-friendly. People can now convert their cars and homes to use liquid petroleum gas or LPG which emits twenty percent less CO2 emissions.
A company called Northern Energy in the United Kingdom offers people in rural communities ways to help reduce their carbon footprint. They will help families convert their hope to LPG and can also help convert vehicles as well.
